Yes, sikhs are completely different from Muslims, in the way of their social and religious conducts. In the earlier times, there existed only 2 religions in India, Hinduism and Islam and their followers known as Hindu and Muslims respectively. Sikhism arose from Hinduism, to teach people that God is not different for different religions. In Northern India, the elder son of family was made a "Sardar" (the leader) who follows Sikhism, to gift the elder son with Gurus' blessings. Sikhs Today enjoy the best things of all religions, have a very bonded relations with all Hindus, since Sikhism originated from Hinduism and almost all rituals, starting from Birth, Marriage and Death are performed similarly in both the religions. Sikhs respect all Hindu Gods and Goddesses and it is often to see Sikhs visiting Hindu Temples and Hindus visiting Sikh Gurdwaras. Sikhs have no enemity with anyone, neither Hindus nor Muslims. Sikhs believe that all religions teach the same values, of human brotherhood and love. The strict monotheism of Sikhism is stressed in Gurbani, the Sikh concept of God is, 'He is not born, nor does he die to be born again', differs from the Christian concept in which God is reputed to take birth, and from that in Judaism which talks of a favoured nation. God is not personal or exclusive to any one religion. If He is without enmity, it must logically follow that He is without favourites or favoured nation. This is not said to denigrate any religion or system of belief, but to show clearly the particular path of Sikhism. The Sikhs' spiritual are truth, love, being humble, contentment, forgiveness, righteousness, wisdom, knowledge and valour. In their daily prayers, they say "sarbat da bhala" (best wishes for the entire humanity). The Sikh religion is a practical one, relating to now and here. Sikhism springs from life, exists in life and finds fulfillment and joy in life by loving God's creation. Gradually, a Sikh is elevated to a state of perfect harmony and equoise. A Sikh rises above superstition, ritual and idol worship. The teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji (First Guru of Sikhs) can be summed up in the injunction: Meditate on God, earn by your own effort, and share your earnings with the less fortunate.
